Renewing PayG pack abroad

SFC4
Visitor

Hello,

I'm currently out of the country.  My last PayG pack expired a couple months ago.  I just topped up my active EE account and tried to purchase a pack.  I've texted 150 (and do get replies) but no indication the pack has activated. MYEE account shows the top up credit but won't allow me to purchase a pack. (It shows a system error message.)

Will my pack activate automatically when I return to the UK when I'm back on the local EE network or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks!

Where are you abroad?

What does texting AL to 150 from it fully report verbatim (it is free)?

I have similar situation. PAYG. I'll be out of the country for 90+ days. Want to ensure my number doesn't get locked (or thrown away). Will sending text to 150 keep my number active?

@alilbabba : Where will you be?

When did you last use it for a chargeable action? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

You need to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack. Just sending texts from EU are not chargeable.

I'll be in the US.

Last chargeable action was start of January. I won't be back in the country until October. I've gotten automated texts from 150 and from a Two Factor authentication service for another subscription. Is that enough? Or should I top up every 75/80 days or so?

@alilbabba : Just receiving texts won't keep your SIM alive. They are free wherever you are. You need to send a chargeable text to a pal within every 5.5 months.
