On  a pay as you go phone with EE with no add-on

If I go to Cyprus for 28 days and switch the phone to on the first day to receive a text message

Then switch it off after receiving the message on the first day

Then do not use the phone again for the next 26 days leaving it Off

Then use it on the last day 28 to receive a text message , after which I switch it off

Do I incur just 2 days of roaming charge ?

I don't believe that to be true. Receiving texts is free anywhere.

Look on e.g. the France Roaming Costs page. Under "What’s included in your allowance (with Roam like Home add-on):" it tells you what is Included but doesn't list:

Receiving texts

Yes

Implying it is free anyway & therefore doesn't need to be Included.

Also 1 of your EE Community Support Team confirmed it to me but I can't remember who.

Hello @xxlindalyy

If you have no subscription pack then you will need to have credit to receive the text.

To have the roam like your home add-on a subscription pack and credit will need to be available for you to opt into this.

More information can be found HERE

@xxlindalyy : The £2.29 daily charge that was the subject of the thread you 1st latched onto applies only to contracts, not the PAYG you are on.

Receiving texts is free anywhere in the world. So you don't need to turn your phone on unless you expect a text. Even if your phone was on you will only be charged if you made a call, sent a text or answered a call. as you had not bought any of the PAYG "Roam Like Home" add-ons.

Hi @XRaySpeX

Text messages are free to receive.

You would need to have a roam like home add-on to send texts.

Apologies for any confusion.

Leanne.
