Hi @Amia4

Welcome to the community.

Did you move your number from pay as you go to pay monthly?

If yes, when was this done?

@Amia4 : In the EE online Shop choose "Pay As You Go" rather than "Pay Monthly Phones".

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC => 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC => 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC => 2022: EE 80 Meg FTTC (no landline number)

No i just got a sim, topped it up with the £5 minimum to be used only for emergency purposes for my father and the next thing i know is that by default a 30 day plan has been pre-selected and will start soon as a call or text is made.

Thereafter i dialled 150 and went through all the options but it only speaks of those plans to choose from. There are no options to select the normal plan.

I searched online and it is the same thing.

I even registered the sim by creating an account, hoping that i might come across something different and yet it is the same thing again.

It just seems this is done on purpose, and if there is a way then its made extremely difficult so you are obliged to keep spending.

If i wanted a monthly line rental for my dad then i would have not purchased a sim in the first place. Very disappointed in ‘EE’ who are well known for its service, unless of course it is all a marketing manipulation.

There isn't a £5 30-day recurring pack. The lowest is £10 which you can't buy with only £5 credit.

What does texting AL to 150 from your no. fully report verbatim (it is free)?

The text reply from sending ‘AL’ to 150 is very brief and does not specify the plan i am on. Instead it mentions to go online ‘for more info on your pack’.
Whether it is online or from dialling 150, they both say ‘your pack, £20 subscription pack’ which in itself is confusing when i topped up just £5. My only guess is, thats their way of saying you have £20 worth of data, minutes etc to use within the 30 days.

But what does AL say exactly?

How much did you pay when you bought that PAYG SIM? Since you bought it have you only topped up by £5?

You must have chosen that SIM primed with a £20 pack. You can't buy it with only £5. It needs at least £20 credit before it will start with an allowance of data, minutes etc to use within the 30 days.
