I have a Galaxy A31 with EE installed. Today I've paid 40 pounds to top-up (enforced) and when I try to make a call I get a message that says "Not enough, you must top up NOW". So I did twice , same outcome.
Customer support tried (no luck), passed me on to an expert (useless) still no ability to make calls
I could go on but I'm getting all worked up again. I am age 83 znd just want to make calls
HELP

I'm going into the EE store in Hounslow later this morning, abandoning all your well-presented advice, hoping to get a NEW SIM card installed, activated & checked (Time to throw out the old problematic one)
BTW we are over from Vancouver for just a month, so want best short-term replacement. Use FIDO in BC . . .

@mikecooke1940 : Your PAYG SIM has gone into hibernation & then been lost completely after a year of non-use.
EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months period of grace to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.
You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

Have you been able to use the phone to make/receive calls, send/receive texts since being in Canada?
