Pay as you go sim won’t activate

I bought a sim and followed the instructions to add £10 and then send a call or text to activate. The only problem is my calls and texts aren’t going through. I’m currently in Italy right now so I’m not sure if that is affecting it.

Had you used that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad? To be used abroad EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

Like @XRaySpeX mentioned, you do need to make sure that the SIM has been used for a call or text within the UK before you're able to use this abroad. 

Did you get a chance to do this, and were calls going through okay?
