I’m in New Zealand for up to 12 months and before I left the UK I changed my contract to pay as you go so I can keep my number. I put £10 on shortly after I arrived in NZ but now I can’t send texts or make any phone calls including to 150. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the EE Community, @Abg5 🙂
Did you use your phone in the UK after the switch to activate your new pay as you go account?

No I didn’t, I switched just before I left and tried to top up before I got to NZ but couldnt as I needed to wait for it to change to pay as you go (I called ee and was advised of this).

@Abg5 Unfortunately because the sim wasn’t used in the UK first it’ll not work at present outside the UK. You can not switch over from contract to PAYG outside the UK and the sim has to be used in the UK first before it’ll work abroad

Ah okay, is there any way I can resolve it?

Hi @Abg5.
Once abroad there is no way to activate this.
When you return to the UK and connect to the EE home network this will work.

Could I potentially get a replacement sim sent to my UK address with the same number, have someone to activate it and have this sent to me?

Hi @Abg5.
It would have to be yourself who orders the SIM and the SIM will need to be used in the UK before travelling abroad.
