Hi just joined ee today so need help big time. I've just purchased a 5g data sim card to try in my router down my caravan. Do I need to top up first on my phone and then can I take the sim out and put in my router

 Thanks in advance. Tony

Just bought a caravan,  need WiFi for grandchildren. Was told by adjacent caravans that they were with EE and han no problem with their router. I have ordered a 30GB from argos just to try before commiting myself to a contact .can't pick that up til Thursday.  Off to van later today so I bought  a sim for £1 and just topped up £10 to try tonight.  Hopefully when I put sim in the router it'll all kick in OK.. fi gers crossed.

Let us know if you have any further questions when you get set up tonight @Tonygriff

Leanne 🙂

Probably not if its a PAYG Sim, your need to buy a Pack to get Data use.

Im assuming you walked in somewhere bought an EE Sim for a quid then topped up £10, what was on the Sim Pack in terms of buying Packs or Add Ons.

I believe for £10 you can get Mins, Text and around 5GB of Internet Data to play with.

On the Router side depends what it is and how old you may have to change or edit the APN, sometimes called Profiles on Routers, it should Auto Configure the APN itself when putting the SIM in, but not always so try it first.

Brand new router huawei b525 still in the box , I'll give the sim a try later see what happens.  Thanks for reply.

I've also bought a 30Gb ee data only from argos but can't pick up til Thursday, do you reckon that will work in the router.

If it's a newish Huawei model then should be fine, it should Auto Configure it's self.

Hopefully it's a Network and SIM Free version.

Put the Router near a Caravan Window somewhere. ie away from metal.
