Hi just joined ee today so need help big time. I've just purchased a 5g data sim card to try in my router down my caravan. Do I need to top up first on my phone and then can I take the sim out and put in my router

 Thanks in advance. Tony

Afternoon @Tonygriff

Thanks for coming here 🙂

You can find ways to top up in our How do I make payments and top up, Help page. Or, you can use the fast top up online.

Once the account has credit, you can purchase a pack or data add-on to use data 🙂

Hi @Tonygriff

Yes, if this is unlocked or an EE router 🙂

Leanne.

Yup it's an unlocked router. Thanks. As I said earlier post I'm all new to this...do I just put sim in router and its good to go or do I need to download or put any other info in. Thanks

You won't need to download anything to use the SIM @Tonygriff

Please top up and then insert the SIM card once you connect a device to the router you will have the option to purchase a data add-on, if you have not already selected a pack when you purchased the SIM card.

I don't think there is a 5G SIM for PAYG.

Hi @Tonygriff

If the SIM card is on a pay monthly contract, you won't need to top up or add any data, this will work for you as soon as this is installed in the router.

Thanks.
