Move to Pay As You Go from Sim Only

Hi all,

I am moving to Australia for a year and will be setting up an Australian E sim but want to keep my UK number and was planning on switching to a Pay as You go. I’m currently on a Sim only contract which I had assumed only ran month to month, but looks like it lasts until October 2025. Is there any way for me to still switch to PAYG?

Thanks in advance.

You can request a 30day notice cancellation at anytime, if you're still within your minimum term then you'll have to pay early-termination fees that are basically equivalent to your remaining monthly subscription minus a 4% discount.

All new PAYG SIMs need to be used on EE's UK network before they will work abroad, so be sure to request cancellation in time for the 30days notice to be comfortably complete and UK activation be done, before you travel. If you travel abroad before using the "new" PAYG SIM in the UK, it won't work abroad and you will eventually fall foul of the hibernation policy.

The hibernation policy requires chargeable usage on every PAYG SIM at least once every 179 days to avoid outright disconnection after 273 days of non-usage.

@Geraldine1964  Yes you can switch to a PAYG,  you’ll just need to pay off the remaining term of the current contract.  You do get a 4% discount on that remaining term price.
