EE Extra Data SIM

carrot_fingers

I bought an 'EE Extra Data 75GB Pay As You Go SIM Card' from Argos today for £1. It's advertised as a 25GB SIM that has 50GB extra data per month for 6 months, so you get 75GB.

When I received it, there was no mention of the extra data on the packaging. I'm assuming they've given me a pack without the special offer.

I've attached a photo of the Argos listing, and a photo of the product I received.

I don't want to pay the £15 topup and only get 25GB instead of 75GB. I contacted EE support and they said that if it's not written on the pack, then I probably won't get the deal. Is this correct do you think?

What you've been given by Argos doesn't appear to be what was advertised by Argos. You need to take it up with Argos.

@carrot_fingers  If you read the product information on this it says

so you have to top up £15 to get the extra data,  you don’t get it from just purchasing it for £1

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Sorry, but that's still the advert, not what OP has been given.

I also brought this from Argos today and the subscription packs on the EE website clearly show that if you buy a £15 pack you 50gb extra (this offer lasts for a couple of months I believe ).  My issue is how the hell do I top up..!!???!
I can buy a pack on the site but everything suggests that you then get a SIM in the post already set up for the pack.. Anyone know how you can buy the pack and associate it with the sim I already have ..????

@NewtonN The promotional PAYG SIM offers on the EE site are not the same as the offers on Argos altho' they might be superficially similar. You shouldn't assume that features you see on 1 site map onto SIMs on sale at another site.

The SIM from Argos that you bought today already has its pack associated with it. You just need to make a call or text from it to start it going.

This is true.. However, the pack advertised on Argos is for the same deal as is shown on the EE site.  Hence the pack may be the same as the one you mention on the EE site.  My issue is the instructions on the EE site are are assuming you buy the pack from them alongside the SIM rather than the option that are sold everywhere for £1 at shop checkouts which you must then find and activate another way .  In fact, when I placed the SIM in a spare phone I received  a SMS that stated “Thanks for Buying a £15 pack , it’ll come out of your credit as soon as you use your phone”

problem is I have no credit and only paid £1 - so how do I add that credit ..???

sorry - but this is typical EE as I have found they are way below other networks in ease of use and that was including the orange days !

In fact it IS the same deal since the terms on Argos include this from EE.  The issue is it’s not at all clear HOW to redeem the offer since the info on the EE packaging helpfully tells you to 1 - put sim in phone and 2 - add £15 to your balance 3 - make a call..

actually HOW you add this credit to your balance in step 2 is not explained and is possibly black magic since the explanation on the site is no clearer..!!!

Hi - Just to hopefully help.  I had all the same issues as you..

I am an existing EE user with 4 monthly account numbers but I created another userid for this PAYG sim - I read this was recommended. I downloaded the the app but had lots of probs trying to get the SIM to link as one of my products.. Eventually I logged on to the EE account using the Chrome browser rather than Safari and it finally gave me the links I needed.
I set up a payment to the pack and it does NOT mention 75GB ANYWHERE during this process - however once you complete the payment and go back to your profile it finally showed 75GB..

Hope this helps

@NewtonN : But does the packing of the SIM you got from Argos look like the OP's? That doesn't seem to be like the promotional offer on the EE Shop, unless it comes with a card giving the promotional offer. Whenever I've got a promotional SIM from the EE Shop it comes with the plastic Combi-SIM stuck to a folded "postcard" giving the promotional terms, e.g. "extra nn GB data for 6 months", not a envelope like the OP's.

Try using Fast Top-up online to pay by UK bank card. You don't need to login or register anything. All you need is your mobile no. & it doesn't remember your card details.
