About 7 weeks ago my pay as you go number (a special number), was no longer in service, I called up EE from my contract number and tried to find out why, as they tried to verify me on that number, they said the security details were incorrect, the name had been changed as well as my memorable name. I was told the details were changed a few days prior to that, and that I should go into branch to get my number back. The branch looked into it and had noted that my name previously on the account based on previous calls I had made. They told me my id was placed onto the account, therefore I need to go home and call cs to have it resolved. Cs made a data breach referral to the fraud team, I called back soo many times for an update as to no avail, I was told I had to wait. Another data breach referral was made and still no reply. Im stressed because it was a number I paid loads of money for, I still have the original sim card, and have access to whatsapp. I feel EE have been unhelpful in helping me retrieve my number, and the fraud team havent updated me at all in regards to this, I just want my number back

When was it reported to them?

Thank you for your reply, and it was reported on the 20th of May, since then I havent heard anything from the fraud team, no update, but when I call cs they keep telling me there’s nothing they can do, they have no authority to access the notes on the account.

The same thing has happened to me, and we aren’t bothered at alll. They don’t care that they have in fact, breached EU and UK law. I now have someone else’s name and date of birth on my account and they won’t speak to me about it as ‘you don’t pass security’. Like duh! Quite clearly they have had a data breach for multiple people if I’m not the only one affected but they don’t care. I’ve reported it to the ico

I'm really sorry to hear that there's a problem with your account. I recommend filling in the web form on our Make a Complaint page explaining what has happened so that this can be looked into fully.

Its ridiculous, some of the cs advisors have said I just have to wait for the fraud team to get back to me, but no surprise, its been nearly 5 months, and I still havent heard anything from them. Who are the ico?
