Best way for single trip roaming

Hi all.

My son is 13 and currently has an EE PAYG phone which we put a tenner on every few months. He really doesn't use a lot as he has wifi at home and at friends' houses etc.
My issue is this: he's going on a school trip soon, abroad - they're travelling from the UK by coach through various countries (I think France, Switzerland, and possibly Germany) to Northern Italy.
What's the best way to get him data access, mainly for the journeys but also when he is in the hotel (it's for a week). I've been looking at the 25GB subscription pack which is £15, plus the £10 Go roam access fee. But I see the fair usage will limit this to 15GB.
Is there a better/ cheaper/ easier way please?
I don't really need a contract for him when he's at home, like I said, he's on wifi most of the time.

TIA.

@Lulu234 : That's as good as you can get. The FUP on PAYG is 25GB pm. The "Roam Like Home" add-on is £10 per week.

In the hotel he should be able to use WiFi, hopefully free.
