Hi, I have sent my google pixel off for repair. The handset had multiple problems - when making calls I can hear the caller but they cant hear me, then the call will drop out, the phone will not connect to 4g so when not connected to the wifi there is zero possibility of using the internet - so cant send whats app messages or use satnav, battery is appalling. The phone repair have said the warrantee has been voided due to 'multiple cracks' - these cracks are not visible to the **bleep** eye and the repairers have had to significantly zoom in to see them. All of that aside - the repair cost has came back at £730.00. The guy in the EE shop informed me that the quote was 'massively inflated' and I would be able to actually buy a new handset outright cheaper. Upon checking the EE site, the handset above mine is selling for £299.00. Where do I stand with this? EE said going to the manufacturer is pointless as they would just refer them back to EE

@Mineminem The repair is to fix all issues including a new phone housing. This is a time intensive process as it’s all done by hand. If it’s cheaper to purchase a new device you have your answer. You could try going to the manufacturer but the cracks are not covered by warranty so you’ll probably get the same sort of cost.

It's not a time intensive process though, as they wont even attempt a repair. The staff member said Google refuse repairs etc and replace the handset - the handset is not £730.00. Also, I haven't seen evidence of all of the cracks - and as you cant actually see or feel them without the aid of a pretty powerful camera i'm assuming (and they have not provided photographs of them) I dont see how the warrantee is void. If the phone has obvious damage then I'd agree but if you held the phone in your hand you'd see no damage whatsoever
