I spent over an hour in an EE store today for absolutely nothing. I wanted a sim card for my old EE phone, to be used as a spare in case needed. I signed a new contract, a new Sim was provided, and put in my old phone. Great! However, the assistant then CANCELLED the contract, and asked for the SIM back because the EE system was down, and it would not be up and running for several hours! I did not have time to go back, as I was travelling a long journey sane day. Also the assistant kept misunderstanding, saying I couldn't upgrade because my contract was too new! I kept trying to explain that I wasn't trying to change my existing contract?, but rather to start another one, sim only. Also, having arrived at the store at 9.00am, advertised on website as opening time, only to find a tatty hand written notice on the door saying that they were closed until 10.00 am for staff training. I have tried to order a Sim only deal on line, only to be told AGAIN, that I am not eligible for an upgrade. I DON'T WANT AN UPGRADE! Perhaps it would be better to pay to get the phone unlocked, and try another provider. The quality of the signal where I live is very very poor for the price I am paying. I have been a customer for almost 9 years, but this episode, and the difficulties in using the app for months now make me wonder if another provider could do better.

Hello @Perplexed2.
Welcome to the community.
I am sorry to hear this.
Please could I confirm so I can help further you are looking for an additional line as a SIM only as well as keeping your current contract?
If you would be changing your current contract to a SIM only this would be classed as upgrading.
Speak soon,
Katie
