upgrade contradictions

im told on my EE mobile i have to pay 86 for early upgrade, then no fee upfront then its not applicable apart from website. Website initially says no upfront cost but when you go to order it asks for 86. It offers a pixel 7 when requesting 7a.  EE, your online sites are becoming contradictory and lacking precise information. Whats happening?
