Free Apple TV - not getting an activation code

I am trying to get the free 6 month Apple TV subscription I was told I could have when I joined EE on a SIM only package.

I've followed the instructions to text TV PLUS to 150.  I get a reply saying "Your free Apple TV+ runs out on xxxx after that you will be paying £4.99 a month".

I have never activated the offer and I haven't ever received an activation code from EE.  So I don't know how to get Apple TV set up or what to do now.

I do have the Apple TV+ app on my TV but can't log in or use it as it says I need to subscribe.

Obviously, looking at all the contact options for EE it's a mystery which option to choose or who I should be talking to.

I really don't have the time for all this faffing around.  Why is everything always so difficult??

Does anyone have any advice please?  I'm multitasking like crazy today but will check back later.

Thanks.

Hi @Ant586,

The text should have included a link to verify your membership with Apple.

Can you see it in any texts from EE?

Nope. It's exactly as I described in my initial post.

As mentioned above, when I sent the SMS to 150 to activate it it said it had already been activated (clearly not by me).

While the offer was activated automatically when I joined EE in October (so 2 months of the subscription has already been used)  I have no record of any correspondence via email, text or anything else to a) say it had been activated and b) what I needed to do to actually use it. I certainly didn't do anything myself.

It doesn't matter to me what should have happened, what matters is that I had to take time out of my excruciatingly painfully busy day to phone EE.

The person I spoke to at EE sent me a link that took me to the Apple+ website.  I then prompted Apple to send a code to my phone. After I entered that I was allowed to set up an account and start viewing. So I can now watch it for free for 4 months. EE kindly gave me something towards the two months I've missed.

So yes, I SHOULD have had something to tell me about this but I didn't. My other half joined EE a month after I did, and chose the Apple TV 6 months free reward. We assumed we could activate them one after the other.  They have also not received any information from EE about it, but we now assume that their offer has also been automatically activated and has been running alongside mine.  I'm assuming, if they DO want to activate theirs, they will also have to use the same link I was sent to set it all up. Because they have not received a link from EE. It's not just me.
