“You’ve dialled an incorrect number”

Dialling my parents’ landline this morning, just as I did yesterday, however today I’m told the number is “incorrect” turns out any call I make to the same dialling code is also incorrect but calls to landlines with a different code go through fine…why has this just started to happen today? My phone is an iPhone 13…

One of the odd problems I have is holding the phone to my ear, I've noticed the signal becomes poor as the sound quality becomes sort of pixilated, its better when using handsfree. Another problem is calls cutting off mid conversation and sometimes it takes the phone some time to do anything after which it will say You've dialled an incorrect number or the other one saying Sorry the systems busy please try again later.

My broadband is quite good, I am now using BT Broadband full fibre and get 150mb speeds with upload speed of around 12mb to 18mb at best.

But one point I do agree with you on is quality of broadband, when I was on Vodafone full fibre and as for public WiFi....very bad!

Hi @Nick_39,

Do you have a strong WiFi signal when you experience these issues, or does it appear low or drop altogether?

Usually strong especially at home using my BT Broadband connection.

One thing I've noticed is some public WiFi hotspots they let me use WiFi calling I dial a number rings fine and then as soon as someone answers the call cuts off and the WiFi disconnects and have to restart the connection.

Hi @Nick_39,

That sounds like an issue with the public WiFi network. Do you experience any issues on your home network?

A few calls yes and my home broadband WiFi signal is quite strong and using BT full fibre. Yesterday I called voicemail over WiFi calling at home and as soon as the service connected the call disconnected so tried again and all was OK.

The Virgin Media WiFi on the London Underground is the worst for calls dropping and at New World Payphone kiosks, again another Virgin WiFi hotspot.
