Hi @Gulsah7,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Please get in touch with Customer Care so a member of the team can take a quick look at your account.

If you’re unable to deactivate voicemail via text message, you can follow this process instead:

Type in ##002# into your phone (as if you’re dialling a phone number) then dial it.

It’s the GSM code for deactivating diverts on your line (so cancels diverts to voicemail)

It seems for some reason that mobile phone operators want to make switching voicemail off as awkward as possible. Likewise any kind of phone contact and EE are no exception. Today voicemail was interrupting messages from my bank when I was trying to make someone an urgent payment. Of course you cant just go to settings and turn the facility off. And you can't even use the option they provide, VM OFF as it doesn't work right now. Then try calling and all you get is a self service menu which offers nothing either.

I'd say this is quite typical of most company's we are now shackled to, EE just as irritating as all the rest.  Unfortunately for me EE are one of the only providers who offer WiFi calling on Pay As You Go and have any kind of signal in the area I live, otherwise I'd be off. I pity un savvy  elders who have no chance of operating within the mobile phone culture as it stands - every effin transaction secured by a mobile texted code etc.

How I solved it. I phoned not customer service or tech support or the CEO, because you can't. I called payments and used the menu which told them I wanted to leave. When Answered I had my rant about this situation being ridiculous, not the verb I used, and then the handler called tech support who in turn switched voicemail off. And came back with, the service VM OFF has been down a couple of weeks! I had another little rant about this, handler was very calm, and the payee is now paid. What a load of...

I disagree.

If you read my reply from yesterday, I detailed exactly how to deactivate voicemail if the VM OFF functionality wasn’t working.

The answer is to type in ##002# into your phone and then dial it as a number. This is the code that tells the network to cancel the active diverts on your line. So basically the same thing the VM OFF message to 150 should do.

For anyone having issues, that is the easiest way. It works on EE, Vodafone and O2 in the UK. The exception to the rule is 3 who insist you deactivate the voicemail diverts via the My3 app. A pain in the backside but can be done. This is a marked improvement on having to call Customer Care to ask them to do it for you.

I do agree with your sentiments around voicemail, I’m not a fan. We live in a message world now so most of the time, people and even companies will call rather than record a voicemail. Also you have their details as a missed call on your phone.

So for anyone who isn’t in love with their voicemail service, just follow the instruction above to remove it.

Anyway, glad you’re sorted.

Thank you sir. Worked a treat.

Thank you, it worked!
