USA Roaming Pass purchase date

Hi

Currently on a SIM only contract and heading to NYC next week.  I know I need to enable data roaming by texting ROAMING to 150 and then its £15 for the Pass to use my phone as if in the UK.  Question is - does it matter when in the billing cycle the Roaming Pass is activated, as my billing cycle moves onto the next month a day after we land.  For instance if I buy the pass today (31 July), does it continue automatically until 31 August?

Thanks

If this assists anyone else -

I contacted EE who were able to set up USA roaming charged at 50p per day for the day(s) prior to my billing cycle.  very good service, and saves paying for 2 full months of roaming when your trip extends across a billing date.

Hi @BianchiDave

Thanks for coming here.

If you cancel during your monthly billing period you’ll be charged £15 for the full month, not just for the days you had the pass. If you don't want the Roam Abroad Pass for another month you would need to remove this.

Please see our How do I get the Roam Abroad Pass? for more details 🙂

Before travelling, please also text ROAMING to 150 to make sure roaming is activated on your number.

Hope you have a lovely time.

Leanne.

Hi Leanne, thanks for replying.

We're in NYC from 6 through to 11 August.  With my billing cycle being on the 7th, does this mean I would need to have the Roaming Pass for 2 months (with my holiday extending across the billing cycle date).  Seems a bit extreme, and means I'd be paying £30 for 5 days use.  Hardly VFM!

Thanks for coming back and letting us know @BianchiDave

Have a lovely time 🙂

Leanne.

I know not of a USA roaming package for 50p a day. Even a call is £1.54 / min. I hope that when you get there it is as you were promised.

Do you have the roaming add-on showing in your My EE account? @BianchiDave

Leanne.

Not yet Leanne, as it will be added from the 6th August.  I don't need to do anything at all now (no text requests for Roaming or Roaming Pass etc as everything is set up).  I was advised I'll need to connect to the T Mobile network upon arrival in US and that's it.

She specifically stated my roaming pass is set to run from 6th August and will cancel automatically on 11th August.  In the event our flight is delayed or for whatever reason we're in the states longer than planned, I've just to contact them and they'll add on the necessary days.

I'm not entirely sure how she's worked it tbh, but did mention I was a long standing customer (16+ years) so were happy to help out.  I sincerely hope I've not been lied to!

I see @BianchiDave

Thanks for the update, if you would like to make sure this is all set up as agreed please give us a call on 150 before travelling to get the account checked 🙂

Leanne.

Hi @Leanne_T

Just spoke with the call centre.  Its all set up as I described, starting on 6th but we've moved the cancellation date to 31 August to cover any delays.  I will just be charged for 1 billing cycle, even although my trip spans 2 if that makes sense.  Effectively each day is about 50p (roaming plan being £15 in total for a month).  Apologies for any confusion caused to you or @XRaySpeX

Regards

David
