Got a text message this morning from “Unknown “ telling me to switch off then on my phone to update network settings!! Is this a scam as it feels like it to me. Surly if it was genuine then it would of been from EE ?

@Lookout62  It’s a network settings up it’s legit so you need to do it for the settings to apply.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Ok Chris thank you for your input.

it would be helpful tho if EE said the txt was from them instead of unknown. My belief is people that want to contact you would have said who they were in the first place.

Completely agree why does it not say it’s from EE? Just spent 20 mins trying to find out if scam or not.  Thanks for asking the question!.

I also eventually rang EE and they couldn’t 100% say it was from them !!!
they could not give me an answer as to why it came from an UNKNOWN source saying it could be them or a third party ie engineer department, and just switching my phone on and off would do no harm(Even that’s not my issue)

Every month they txt me to say my bill is ready to view and a link and sender heading

From EE,so why not do the same for this message so we all know it is not a scam ?

Scammers would have nothing to gain from you restarting your phone, which is a perfectly safe thing to do.

Yes I appreciate your reply but my point is why EE cannot say the txt is from them as they do in all the other emails they send out to customers. That’s the reason I thought it maybe a scam being sent from Unknown.
