I have been charged for RECEIVING 20 texts whilst travelling abroad ( Qatar and Seychelles) … £15.96.
all the texts were from EE
I didn’t open the texts until I got home.
I was told RECEIVING texts was free.
What’s happening here ?

Details of charges are normally sent once, on arrival in a particular country.
Regardless, you will need to query this with EE CS. 150 from your mobile

@uphilton : You are not charged for receiving texts anywhere in the world. You sure it's not for sending texts? The price is about right, 76p per text sent x 21 texts.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

Can you post up a screenshot of your bill showing these charges, with identifiable info redacted?
Receiving texts is free anywhere in the world, unless they are premium-service texts in which case the roaming bit is irrelevant.
You'll ultimately need to query this with EE CS on 150 - but I would be curious to see these charges.

The image contains identifiable information on there (the number in question) so can't be approved for public view, but I can see it - and can't see any reference to "receiving" on the bill.
Those charges tally with the price to send a text message, and therefore doesn't appear to be a billing error. Do these text message show in your phone's message history?
