Suddenly charged for photo texts?

Edit to clarify: this is on an Android phone to an android phone through the standard messaging text app.

Between Dec 2023 and March 2024 I was texting a friend with pictures and emojis, because after the first picture it didn't add a cost to my bill.

From March 2024 and since I noticed I have been charged 83p per picture message.

My plan has not changed and I am still paying the same base rate, but each of my bills has nearly doubled because of the picture messages suddenly adding a cost.

We would've swapped to WhatsApp sooner had I know it would cost but as far as I understood it was included in my plan as I wasn't initially being charged for it and I never bought an add-on.

Did EE change something?

Picture msgs always cost 83p each unless you have a billing add-on for them.
