SIM suddenly stopped working in USA

Hi there,

My SIM has stopped working out of the blue while I'm travelling in the USA. It just comes up with an SOS sign at the top (I think this is in the States only). I've tried the SIM in another handset and it doesn't work there either.

This happened a couple of weeks ago but after toggling Airplane mode, it seemed to resolve. However this time nothing is fixing it. 

What are my options out here? Is there a way of getting a replacement SIM if I'm not at my home address. I'm travelling for a couple of months so need to find a way to get it working again.

Are you using a pay as you go or pay monthly plan?

Was your phone working in the USA previously?

Try manually selecting an alternative US network

EXACTLY the same thing has just happened to me in USA. Sim was working then suddenly stopped. Exactly as described above - no idea how to resolve it. Tech support said there could be problems between USA and EE networks and to wait a day…. Not really convinced that is the problem

Hi there - EXACTLY the same thing has happened to my SIM out in the States. What is going on?!?!

how can this be resolved - I’m out here for 2 months and need to have a working phone.

I was in touch with EE tech team for 2 hrs this morning with no success - they ended up saying that there could be a problem between EE and US networks and to wait a day. Still no change. Is this true?

Hi @Cmckenzie1,

I'm not aware of any known issues with roaming in the USA at the moment.

I'd recommend getting back in touch with technical support so the team can take another look at this for you.

Hi James - I’m trying to but not getting a response.

This issue has obviously happened before? I was speaking with the technical team for 2 hours yesterday and then they finally sent me away saying there were USA network issues - which I didn’t think was true. I need this resolved as having your phone stop working while travelling is very worrying.
