I’m confused. Yesterday in the King’s Lynn store, an assistant advised that if I set up a Roaming Pass I should set no spend cap. But I’ve just added Roaming Passes to my phone and my mother’s and both times it said we’d have to set a cap of at least £20 on each phone or we wouldn’t be able to use them abroad. Can anyone give me the definitive answer? I don’t want to arrive in New York and find my phone won’t work.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

@Streetworker01 : Well, no spend cap at all is at least £20 (it's infinite 😉 !). It's just saying if you set it too low it will bite against the cost of the Roam Abroad Pass itself as well as data charges and run-on rates if you’ve exhausted your data allowance or data pass, thus curtailing your use of data while roaming. £20 might seem a reasonable leeway.

Also remember that setting a billing add-on won't enable the roaming facility which is what allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.
Text ROAMING to 150 to make sure this is done.

Ah, I see. So it’s not going to be a problem if I put, say, £30 cap on just in case? I’m highly unlikely to exceed my plan while I’m there. And mum certainly won’t exceed hers!

Thanks for the reminder. I’m sure it’s straightforward in practice but any tips are always welcome.

Hi there @Streetworker01
This should work for you, as long as roaming is also set up.
To make sure everything is set up correctly for roaming, please give us a call on 150 and the team will be happy to check for you 🙂

Thank you. In the cold light of day I think I was stupidly conflating “no cap” with a cap of 0.00. As another poster rightly said, “no cap” is infinite.
