Roaming texts

On arriving in Spain I received a text saying

"Calls to countries outside the EU (not including the UK) are £1.35 per min and texts 56p each. Other charges are the same as when you're in the UK."

I have sent 3 texts to my grandmother's Spanish mobile and 1 to my boyfriend's UK number and now in my EE account it's listing these are being £1.66 each. Did I misunderstand the welcome text? I thought it meant my texts wouldn't cost extra, or at the most 56p?

Did your texts include any emotions/emoijs. like 🙂 ? If so, that turns them into MMS which are chargeable.

Ah, I know what it is.

If your contract started after 07/07/21 & you haven't bought the Roam Abroad Pass for £11.40 pm, you are charged £2 on every day you use any of your UK allowances. For some reason where you are looking in your a/c it is shown as ex-VAT, £1.66.
