Checked twice this Summer with agents on 150 about crossing the border from N Ireland into the Republic. At first was told no charge for calling or data use. Second time was told charges are to commence in January 2022 so wouldn’t be charged. I was charged anyway. Agent today said roaming calls over the border from N Ireland are charged and have been for some time. The last agent (and EE website) says not until January 2022 but today’s agent had no idea where that information came from. What exactly is the situation? I got roaming officially activated by an agent and double checked but there seems to be confusion on the part of EE.

Hi @Snubz08
There hasn't yet been any changes to EU-roaming costs, and this EE help page confirms "When you’re roaming in the EU all your calls, texts and data will come out of your UK allowance, just as they would at home"
You may want to read this page which explains the forthcoming changes a little more.

Thank you. Yes the issue appears to be that EE haven’t communicated this to their agents and they continue to charge anyway.
