Roaming in Canada

Hello. I am in great need of help. I am in Canada, and I need to be able to make/receive calls. I am a contract sim user, and I have bought a roam pass add-on. But it doesn't seem to be activated yet. I really really really need help. 

I seem unable to chat support online too. I didn't know this could be a thing to happen. What to do?

@Bowbo : As you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

Hiya. Thank you for your reply. No I did not. I simply forgot.

But surely there should be a way for me to login to my account and turn this on, without texting? This is 2024! 😕 

I have done a restart. I also tried the manual network selection, not much success there. I don't have a Skype account.

I would gladly call an international CS number from my canadaian number, but it's not going through. Unless I have a wrong number

No, now you are abroad you can only activate roaming by calling CS as I previously suggested.

The facility to toggle international roaming used to be available via self-service methods, but there were some issues with it and it was removed a few years back - it would be so much easier if this were reliably available!!

And thus if there was another way of checking your roaming enablement, you woud have been advised of it.

If you are on pay-monthly and now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 0798586 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.
