Roaming in India

Hi. I am an EE Pay Monthly subscriber currently in India. Before leaving the UK, I had texted ROAMING to 150 and got a text message reply which mentioned "your phone is now set up to roam in the EU only" (it didn't mention anything other than EU). Now it appears that roaming in India wasn't activated and my EE sim isn't active in India . Do I need to purchase some other add-in to enable roaming in India.

Hello @Prasham02

What happens if you try to make a call or send a text?

Hi Katie,

I am simply not getting any network even after having switched on the correct settings on my iPhone. Making a call or sending a text isn't even an option as there is simply no network. I had  texted ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Is it that I  I need to get the ROAM ABROAD Pass add on even for connecting to the network?

Hi @Prasham02

No, your phone should still connect to a local network without the Roam Abroad Pass.

Are you able to try manually searching for a network?

Katie

Hi Katie

Yes I tried manually searching and I cannot see any network.

Hi @Prasham02

In this instance I would recommend getting in touch with either our Live Chat, Facebook or Twitter teams who can take a look into your account.

The Roam Abroad pass is just a billing add-on, has no effect on your roaming facility and doesn't apply in India - in other words, it's a red herring here.

You mentioned that when you texted ROAMING to 150, the reply mentioned that EU-only roaming was activated. India isn't in the EU, and therefore this is your issue. Your phone only has permission to connect to EU-based networks, and no others - which is why you are not seeing a mobile network connection in India.

Your only recourse now is to contact CS via another means, and ensure full international roaming is setup.
