I was in the USA (Orlando) end of July/start of August 2022 not long after the thread was opened.
My experience trying to make voice calls or send SMS was horrendous. My phone is capable of VoLTE (Galaxy S20 FE 5G) and I had the Roam Further add on enabled.
AT&T: Unable to make or receive voice calls or SMS. Only data worked (the data actually worked brilliantly).
T-Mobile: Worked for voice calls, SMS and data but it was totally unreliable and only worked intermittently. Unusable.

The above page still states:
"Can I use 4G while abroad? You can use 4G mobile internet while abroad. 4G Calling is not available yet, but you can still make calls using 3G and 2G networks."
So just to confirm again, the information on that linked page above is out of date and I should have been able to use VoLTE when I was in Orlando earlier this year? "VoLTE calls" were switched on in the phone settings, I tried messing around with the settings nearly every day.... Manually connecting. Phone off/on. Flight mode on/off etc. Nothing worked to get calls to work with AT&T.
It was obviously annoying and disappointing not being able to use AT&T properly whilst abroad (given that T-Mobile was patchy and pretty much unusable most of the trip). I'm making another trip there next April and I hope I don't experience the same issues.

AT&T help replied with some steps to try, maybe their advice will help some people if they are also having issues in USA.
One thing I did note though was a reply from someone on that thread (not an AT&T employee):

Is there a potential SIM issue with some people? Surely if my SIM works VoLTE in the UK it should be fine abroad or is there any differences with our SIMS compared to the ones issued by AT&T in the USA? Or is this person talking nonsense? I'd be interested to know.
