Re: left without service when abroad on my own

This is happening to me right now in Greece despite EE roaming assurances and a message re daily charges , I have not been able to phone text or email anyone in Greece  and this has caused me such a problem, as I can’t get a telephone card for the phone boxes in the street either, as I’m told that no one uses them any more. I am here on my own and cannot even send a text internally. It’s a scandal from such a big organisation and so much for the Kevin Bacon ads promoting the amazing EE connections! I feel let down and ripped off and no, I won’t let this rest either. A mobile phone I can’t use, scandalous EE!! I have a 95 year old aunt who asked me to call her and I can’t ,nor can I phone a badly needed electrician- what decade is this please? Modern technology- I don’t think so!!!

Does your phone connect to any Greek networks? If not, it's likely roaming isn't active.

If you're on pay-monthly, did you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK?

If you're on PAYG, had you used your phone in the UK before travelling?

This is what I received on texting EE the day I traveled

Hi from EE, Welcome to Greece, you'll pay £2.29 per day to use your minutes, texts and data allowance. Visit care.ee.co.uk/roaming for more information.

Calls to countries outside the EU (not including the UK) are £1.54 per min and texts 64p each. Other charges are the same as when you're in the UK.

For the best network coverage your handset must automatically select a network. To do this, choose your phone from: http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device next select 'Connectivity' then 'Selecting Network'.

Call +447953966250 for Customer Services & 112 in case of emergency. Have a good trip!

I can’t even access EE customer services

Thanks for getting back to us @AnnieCMc.

Although you may have received your welcome text on your arrival does not confirm roaming as been enabled on your account.

Of course I understand the importance of you being able to use your phone so I would like to help get this resolved.

Have you tried logging in to your My EE account to use our live chat service? our customer care team will be able to activate roaming for you.

If you have received a text message abroad, you must have had a mobile network connection to do so - this is good evidence of roaming being active.

That would either leave an outbound/international call bar active, or a local network issue. The latter is often solved by using an alternative local provider.

Have done that. I am not even able to contact EE
I am not the only person who has had this problem and it suggests that I am doing something wrong, rather than EE.
