What does roaming have to do with receiving SMS messages? I am in the same boat, I need to receive an SMS from Paypal but my phone suddenty stopped receiving messages and calls

@stevej200 , if you are abroad, then you need to have roaming enabled on your account to receive SMS or any other messages, it is the same as making and receiving calls, they are not sent over wifi, but mobile network.
Are you on pay as you go or contract?
Pay as you go is roaming enabled, but you need to have credit, whereas on contract you do have to enable roaming on your account.
If you are in the UK, then you do not have to have roaming enabled. You could try rebooting your phone.

@stevej200 : Using your phone abroad is Roaming!

I am on PAYG and I am abroad. Was receiving calls and messages normally until last week, then suddenly stopped. And I have sufficient credit. I also can not send text messages, but for some reason I am able to make calls. What gives?

Did you use the SIM card in the UK to make a phone call or send a text message before travelling abroad, @stevej200?

Yes, I did. I've been using this phone for a long time, in the UK and outside. As I said, everything worked fine until last week, and now it doesn't

Are you able to try manually searching for another available network and connect, @stevej200?

I am able to manually search for another network. There are two networks available where I am located, but the phone is only connecting to one of them

And again, it's not like I just arrived in this country. I have been here for a long time, travelling in and out of the country to the UK regularly, and never had a problem receiving text messages and calls. This just started happening this week

Hi @stevej200
Thanks for confirming.
How long have you been abroad?
What happens if you manually connect to the other network?
Leanne 🙂
