I am having this exact issue right now
a random guy answers when I call my daughters phone. I can still text her and she gets it. Random guy is getting our family What’s Ap messages. He says he bought his phone in a shop 4 months ago. It’s been my daughter’s number for over a year and I am paying the bill ongoing

@CatherineFJ You can only have one sim with anyone number it’s not possible to have 2 sims with the same number. What happens if you call your daughter from a different phone ? Can you manually type in her number when you call.

I called 150 and they say that this was never my daughters number and that it has only ever been this random Polish guys number and that she has always had a different number as far as their records say
i feel like this is gaslighting! This number that the random Polish guy now has has been my daughters number since April 2021. I’ve been calling and texting her on it ever since then and only started getting this guy a few months ago. If it’s never been her number then how can this guy be reading our family What’s Ap chat and my daughter be getting his messages too
Its resolved in that she essentially has a new number (that EE say was her number all along??) and we have blocked random guy on all our chats etc but I think this is actually a safeguarding issue that a random strange man had access to all my daughters messages and was messaging her.
EE just say ‘it’s a mystery’ and no apology forthcoming at all

Is your daughter's number on PAYG or pay-monthly?
If pay-monthly, do her bills show the number in question?

It’s pay monthly off my account and weirdly the number on the account is the one they say was hers all along but which we have never used. I never checked it before though now so I don’t know if they changed it since I called them.
what I think might have happened is that we did ask when we got the phone if she could keep her old number but were told no so we just started to use the number on the new SIM supplied with the new phone. Then maybe they did change it after all but we didn’t know and carried on using the one in the box which worked until it was reassigned to Polish dude (I know he’s Polish because she got all his texts in Polish and he got all hers)

Hi @CatherineFJ
It sounds to me like this could be an issue with the way the numbers were stored in your phone. It could be like you said, that you've been messaging her on the new number she got, then her old one was re-assigned after being quarantined.
I've sent you a private message to get you some help, if you think you still need it.
