PAYG phones are auto-enabled for roaming providing you use the phone in the UK first

Pay-monthly phones need to have roaming enabled, the easiest way is to text ROAMING to 150.

You can check billing add-ons using https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs - the Roam Further pass is recommended if you plan to use your phone abroad with any intensity.
