No signal or data connection

Hi,

 

 

 

I'm currently abroad and trying to use my phone, I can't make or receive calls or texts. After trying to manually connect to the local network it fails and says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network". Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Spud5700 

If the SIM card works, the phone is unlocked for you. 

Can you try and manually connect to a different network?

On sim app it says roaming NOT ACTIVATED? 

Phone is pay as you go

Phone says emergency calls only-EE

I have been in touch with numerous members

Thanks for coming here. 

Pay as you go SIM cards are set up for roaming as long as they are used in the UK before travelling abroad and mot in hibernation. 

Did you use the SIM card in the UK? 

When was the last time you made a call, text or topped up the account?

Yes used in uk
Topped up a month ago
Put £1 VIP pack on 2 days before i left and used in uk ..worked OK
Have put local sim in lyca mobile data worked but not calls, received texts
from carrier but unable to send any
Contacted phone maker "verve" and they said contact EE

I'm loathe to put into my wife's working phone so I guess I will have to
get new phone on return

If you still have problems when you return, please try the SIM card in another phone to see if this works OK for you @Spud5700 

If it does, the phone may have developed a fault. You could try backing up all data and preforming a factory reset if you have not done this already, to see if this helps.

Please try the other suggestion of the SIM card in another phone so we can fine out where the problem may be coming from.
