No service In Dubai

I have arrived in Dubai and I have a PAYG sim with a data pack and 700 mins but I cannot even connect to a network over here and I am trying to do business here. When I try and connect to any network it redirects me to sign into EE and then I get an error message every time and it is so difficult to get hold of EE from abroad to sort this out. My data roaming is on and I should be able to connect. Maybe I need to buy loads of new credit to be allowed onto any network is that it? Plse help thanks Liam

Hello @Liam1969

Welcome to the community.

Did you activate your SIM before leaving the UK?

Your current pack will not work outside of Europe.

You can find all costs for roaming in Dubai HERE

@Liam1969 : Your pack's no good outside the EU. You need to top-up & buy a roaming data add-on.

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi Katie, Yes the sim has been constantly active for 4 years

Probably  so why not by a local sim these rates suck! very high costs

So better to use a local holiday SIM like they offer in the US than get killed for costs

@JanPix @Liam1969   if your both on PAYG you are good to roaming abroad there is no setting to enable as PAYG is automaticity good for roaming.     Have you tried just restarting the device?  Have you tried a manual network search?  have you tried changing the network connection type ie from 4G.

@Liam1969   You don’t need credit on your account for your device to connect to a network.
