No data connection abroad

I'm in Slovakia and have been for 10 days. Yesterday I exceeded my data cap( self set ) so my phone.wont work. I've changed my cap, I haven't exceeded my actual contractual allowance by the way. I can't call EE because when I dial dial 150 it just connects me to the emergency services here. I txt BALANCE to 150 and it said  £18.74 to go onto my next bill.  £2.47 a day to use my phone here so I should owe more than £18 but it's not showing on the usage breakdown. When I texted BILL to 150 and now I'm panicking because it says " the balance for your device is £289.96. how do I get in touch with EE to get my phone working again and to find out how much I've spent / owe?

A data cap should only affect mobile data usage, it won't have any bearing on voice calls or text messages.

You can contact CS on +44 7953 966150 from abroad - 150 sometimes works, but the long-dial "will" work. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a day or two's delay in the daily charge being added to your bill, although any more than that and I'd get suspicious.

@MikeyClax : EE can be confusing when it comes to showing charges with regard to VAT. In its bill all charges are VAT-inclusive but for interim charges to be added to next bill it confusingly uses ex-VAT charges.

You are still on your 10th day, so you've only been pre-charged for 9 days.

The daily roaming charge is 2.058 ex-VAT. So you're being charged £18.53 ex-VAT which is about right!

Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

Thanks for your help. The long number worked off someone else's phone. Customer service sorted me out. I had changed my spend cap from £20 to £40 after receiving the message off EE that I could lose services like texting and calling. There was just a longer than usual delay in it going through.

Thank you for your generosity and advice. You were spot on about the billing and charges!
