Mobile 4G does not work abroad?

CarolinaMarkido
Visitor

I just went back home to Cyprus for holidays and I can see I have 38GB left and unlimited texts, 15£ on my account but my 4G does not work here and its the first time this happens. Any reason why? I tried contacting EE and I am never redirected to someone that works there so I can ask my question. Please let me know if you have any solutions to this problem as I wont able to survive a month without data here

Hello @CarolinaMarkido

Welcome to the community.

Are you pay as you go or pay monthly?

When abroad have you tried manually connecting to another local network?

Do you visit the North or the South of Cyrpus?

Speak soon,

Katie

If you are Pay Monthly, did you check that roaming was enabled on your My EE account?

Thanks,
Alex

Did you receive a msg upon arrival telling you about the charges for roaming in EU on PAYG? Did you buy 1 of the "Roam Like Home" add-ons to be able to use your UK pack allowances there?

Are you receiving 2G/3G coverage? Are you not getting any local connection at all?

When you say you "have £15 on your account", does this mean you're on PAYG? If so - PAYG phones are auto-enabled for roaming once they're used in the UK first. What do you mean by "it's the first time this happens" - have you used this phone abroad before?

In my view contract users never boast about having credit on their a/c 😉 as it can have no effect on their usage of services. Whereas PAYG users will often mention it as it does!
