Missed calls in the UK

Strange but over the past 2 weeks I have had a number of people calling saying that they have had a missed call from my number although I haven't called them.

Today I had a random number call me and hang up immediately. 

Is this some sort of a scam? how could somebody be using my number to call out? 

By the way I have had the same number for the last 20 years or so

Any suggestions much appreciated

Call EE CS and ask them to refresh your line. 

Then restart your device.
