I’ve just signed up for a new phone/contract. I’ve been with EE for years and simply updated my phone (google pixel 6a) and am on a new monthly contract (£30). I’m Irish, but London based. Both my parents are very ill and it’s important that I call home daily. Neither my parents can use mobiles (they’re very elderly, and dad has dementia - so it’s a lost cause, though i have bought them phones and tried many times…). So, I’m reliant on calling their landlines. However, today with my new phone, I tried to call my mother and there’s a recording that says this call is barred from my phone!? Previously, it cost me an extra .50p-£1 to make these calls from London to Ireland (and I have to call my Dad’s carehome a lot). When I signed the contract I asked about roaming charges, but I was thinking simply about when I’m in Ireland. The sales rep simply said I should buy a £10 roamer before going to Ireland and that would cover me for the trip. I never imagined I wouldn’t be able to call Ireland from the UK. Is there a bar on actually calling anywhere outside of the UK? If this is the case, I’d rather go back to my old phone and old contract - as contact with my parents is crucial. Can someone help please?

Can you call other countries nos. from the UK? I think you'll find it the same. You don't have permission to call abroad.
Login to your MyEE account online & go to Menu > Account Settings > Parental and Data Controls > Call Abroad and Premium Rate. It will show as ticked if calling abroad is activated. If not ticked, can you activate this setting?

Hi, thanks so much for taking the time to write. I’ve tried to do what you suggest, but I cannot see “menu” anywhere on my EE account page. Can you tell me where on the page this is located? I’d really appreciate it.

It's in your online "My EE Mobile" on the L looking like a 3-barred gate.

Once again thanks XraySpex! I found it, there’s a blue tick in the call abroad box. When I clicked on it a red ‘block’ came up, so I put it back to the blue tick. Tried to call Ireland again, no go. Very confused about this. Is it the account, or the actual
phone?

Morning @Lularose
Thanks for coming here.
If you give us a call on 150, our mobile care team will check your account for you and make sure you are set up to call Ireland.
Let me know how you get on 🙂
Leanne.
