Potentially you may be able to do this more cheaply by obtaining a PAYG SIM from another provider, requesting a PAC and providing this to EE.
Your mileage may vary and if this does work, I would like to hear about it. 🤓
Contract SIM: Plan | Data | Usage | Check Status | Abroad | Chat | SMS | APN | PM
Wired: Check Speed | Test Socket | Faults | fast.com | speedtest.net

A PAC is, by definition, for moving providers and keeping your mobile number - which is the opposite of what the OP in this thread wants to do.
Using a STAC (Service Termination Code) may work, but that's a different thing from a PAC, and the advice to call EE C/S is certainly the easiest.

Hi @bristolian ,
Is it possible to have two SIMs for a long time with two different providers and then request a PAC from one provider to port the number to the other provider and SIM? 🤓
Edit: I'm proposing that the OP clobbers the unwanted number. We both agree that the OP does not want to port the unwanted number and this would cause a contract to be wrongly cancelled. I can see how a person could accidentally do the wrong thing though.
