Did you mean:

Have I been scammed?

Hi. I have been on the phone to someone from EE. I cant help but feel dodgy about a link I clicked while upgrading a benefit.

I was asked to click a link to approve terms and conditions and the whole thing did not feel right. Could anyone help put my mind at ease?

The message was as follows:

Hi david. Please join me in a screen sharing session. It's secure and simple - just click here: (if you are not the intended recipient do not click on the link and delete the message) https://eu2.lightico.com/Default.aspx? <The rest of the URL removed, due to containing personal information>

Hi @phil230

Welcome to the Community.

I definitely don't want there to be any confusion with this at all.

For instance, if you upgrade with us over the phone/online, we will advise you directly that we're sending a link over to run through the new terms and conditions of what's been agreed.

If you are not discussing any account changes with us directly, then anything received would not be genuine, and needs reported to us. Please never click links, or offer one time PINs without having contacted us directly.

Emails can be forwarded to [email protected] as seen on our help page Online Security: Avoid and Prevent Scams.

Hi James,

I too have received a similar text telling me to open a URL on a non BT site. My concern is why are EE sending me a link to a 3rd party site which I have no  knowledge of no desire to use and  also have to load  this site's cookies onto. my phone.

As I say my contract is with BT/EE not eu2.  IF I have to see this contract prior to committing to this contract variation, then why can't these documents be emailed to me so no links,

Rgds

Martin

@mjken Why do you believe EE have sent it to you?

If you were on the phone to EE and discussing an upgrade and they wanted you to look at the new T&Cs, then maybe it was EE, but if it's just out of the blue, it's probably not EE. Who is the text from and what does it say? (don't paste in any links that could identify you)

I was in communication with EE, so it was definitely from EE, but the mail wants me to access a 3rd party site.

If it was the same link as in the first post, this has been confirmed as legitimate and is part of EEs process to get you to read and accept the T&Cs.  If you aren't happy doing this, you can upgrade online or visit an EE store?
