EE Texts arriving hours too late

Hi

Why are text messages arriving hours after they have been sent. ??

Often I am awaiting a Pass Code or Key to get into Banking Apps or Government Gateways. These codes are only usable for a short period.

Gov.UK sent me a code at 11.45 - it is now 12.05 and I still have not received it - only 20 minutes I know, but the code will time out before I get it.

The phone is on and working.

EE are sending me messages to top up, when I haven't even used the last top-up.amount yet! - but that's another issue

Regards to all

Ken

Hi @KAJC2024

Welcome to the community.

Are you finding that it is only texts like pass codes or keys that are coming through delayed, or is it happening with normal texts as well?

Michael

Hi

Normal texts as well.

My landlord has stopped sending me texts now as they often arrive several hours later. It's quicker to email me.

The Gov.UK code still has not arrived. I've tried again

I've tested logging into Government Gateway using an OTP. The SMS arrived within 10 seconds of being requested.

Hi

Yesterday, at 11:45 and 15:40 I requested Codes from the Gov.uk site.

Both codes arrived together this morning at 08:15

I will the government site again

Best Regards

Ken

Hi

This time, code arrived straight away.

OK, maybe this only work when the phone is physically plugged, as it is at the moment.

Something to test

Best Regards to all

@KAJC2024

When was the last time you switched your mobile handset off for at least 5  minutes?
Can you please try this, as it will help keep your connection fresh with the network.

Hi

Ok, will try that

This morning I have had one successful code from GOV.uk and am still waiting for three others.

Best Regards

The fact you are receiving text messages demonstrates an active connection to the mobile network.

Out of interest, were mobile-originated (as opposed to automated) texts similarly affected by the delay? They use the same access network infrastructure.

Hi

Yes

Both my landlord and his maintenance staff had tried to text previously, but I could not reply in a timely fashion because the texts were taking hours to get to me.

The first code from Gov.uk I requested this morning arrived straight away, however 3 later requests have not been received yet.

Best Regards

Ken
