Update: 04 July 2025

Our engineers accessed the area and replaced the generator this week as planned. During the activation we found further cabling work was needed to restore power to the mast. Our engineers accessed the area and completed the additional work needed on the 02 July, and service was restored to the area. However, during the early hours of the morning, the generator lost power and the mast was offline.

Our engineers accessed the area yesterday and completed additional work to restore power to the mast. The mast is now fully on-air restoring service in the area.

We will continue to monitor performance in the area.

Update: 27 June 2025

Over the past week, our engineers have been working with the council to organise the road closure to remove and replace the generator. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we expect the road closure and generator to be replaced on the 01 July 2025. The work will take place during the evening to cause minimum disruption.

Once the generator has been replaced, we expect full service to be restored to the area.

We will keep you updated on this post.

We’re aware of a signal issue that is affecting some of our customers in the Darlington area.

The site currently has a fault with the generator, and no power is being supplied to the mast. The generator will need to be replaced; due to the location of the mast this will require a road closure for the lorry to safely access the site to remove and replace the generator.

Our engineers are working with the council to organise the road closure and arrange a date for the lorry to access the area. Once we have a date to access the area and replace the generator, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the mast.

We will keep you updated on this post.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused. In the meantime, you may be able to use WiFi Calling to make and receive calls and texts over a WiFi connection.

This will be an interesting one, as the site affected is on a derelict building next to the main Darlington ring road / A68 - hence the need for the generator, as the building no longer has a connection to the grid.

Really hope EE can work with the council to secure an overnight closure, as I’m experiencing no signal around most of the town centre.
