Device provisioning for 5G Standalone

Hello all,

I have noted that my area is currently covered by 5G Standalone. Whilst I appreciate that there is an incentive to get customers to upgrade to make use of it, do we at least have any information on device provisioning for other profiles?

I have a Sierra Wireless enabled Modem that has 3GPP Release 16 and another that is 3GPP Release 17 capable, yet I am starting to realize the carrier is either whitelisting IMEI for 5GSA or is reading the UE data to confirm if they will permit it.

This means that the only thing I can do is ask how profiles get made, so here I am I guess!

Hi @awest196654901

You can find the latest devices that can use EE 5G Standalone, as well as other requirements, at Using 5G Standalone on your mobile. This list will also be updated as the devices expand, so it's worth keeping an eye.

There is a good discussion about 5G standalone and device compatibility on the 5G Standalone (SA) forum thread

I think my point is, a device is technically compatible in the sense that their modems are able to connect. For example, my cellular router has a 3GPP Release 17 Modem so it certainly CAN work with standalone, my question is whether EE would support allowing devices on a case by case rather than whitelisting a set number of devices.

Hi @awest196654901

Thanks for coming back to us and for the feedback.

If there are any changes to 5G Standalone this would be updated on the help page provided.

Thanks.

Leanne.
