Are you on EE PAYG or pay monthly contract.
Is data active in your phone settings.

Contract but never had issues until Friday

Try restarting your device. Have you tried connecting manually.
Are you on a foreign carrier.

Seems to been an issues when done last iPhone update but I have heard others that are on we that have had issues

If you're in the UK (as per the subject of this post) you're using EE's UK network, thus not roaming and thus not data roaming. You're just using mobile data.
Does your phone show coverage indicators? Can you make & receive calls OK? When did you last restart your phone or toggle flight mode? Is mobile data enabled on your phone?
Or are you not in the UK and are actually abroad, thus roaming?
