My husband and I have been charged for a text message we haven’t made. Both to the same number at the same time & date and both costing 89p?? Neither of us have this number yet alone text it!!

89p sounds like an MMS (Picture Msg) which is not included in your allowances.

And if you're absolutely certain the bill lists it as "text message" as opposed to the more likely "multimedia message", then the usual reason is a message longer than 160characters.

Phones will break these down into chunks of 160characters, the network charges accordingly, and the recipient phone then combines them together again.

More for reference in this case, than likelihood.

If the phone breaks an SMS into chunks it will charge the per SMS fee for each chunk & so the charge would be a multiple of it.
