Cannot phone from abroad

I have the same problem as a previous messager today. I am in Spain and completely unable to use my mobile phone to call abroad. Whenever I dial any UK number I get a voice message saying calls to this number are restricted and telling me to phone freephone 470. When I do that I hear a Spanish voice speak for a few seconds then it cuts off. I can't even phone EE customer services and there is currently no way I can send them a message. I am getting desperate - please help me.

P.S. I already activated roaming on my phone for internet and calls from abroad.

I have just fixed mine!!!

All I have done is go to Settings and change the Network to a different provider (I have changed from Orange to Movistar and it has done the trick!!)

I am having the exact same problem as you. 

I had  a missed call and someone left a Voice message. I am trying to access this 22 seconds message and I am getting the same message as you. When I try to call 470 or any other UK number I am getting the same message of  "calls to this number are restricted... phone freephone 470". 

I am in Spain too.

Thanks for your posting. Is there any way we can contact EE customer services? I checked online and they say their messaging service is not available at the moment.

I exactly the same - EE of course uncontactable - that's why they're the greatest uk network - king useless

Unfortunately I still haven't been able to deal with the problem. I have gone to account settings but cannot see where I can manually switch my account to another provider. 
I am now really in despair. If anyone working for EE customer services sees this message could they please contact me to resolve the issue. I am in Spain and my full number is +34 794 399 0696.
