Hi,
I'm having a problem trying to send a reply SMS from the hospital about an appointment.
It won't send. My RCS is working fine, but SMS doesn't seem to be sending. I can't reply to the hospital with RCS as they don't support that on their end.I
Is anyone else having this issue and how do I fix it please?
I've made sure all my mobile updates are current, deleted temp files etc, and tried shutting the phone down and restarting. Nothing is fixing this.
I have an Oppo A34 5G phone, it's an android phone. I've never had this problem before and nothing on EE status says they're having a problem with texting services.
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks

Thank you Leanne.
I tried to send it again this afternoon and for some reason it went straight through. I think it all must have been some strange glitch with the hospital rather than being on my (or EE's) end.
Have a good Christmas
Regards, Lisa

@LJHay Are you on contract or PAYG ?
RCS uses data to send messages just like what’s app it doesn’t send via the same means as a text message as it’s two separate messaging platforms.

PAYG. I have a direct debit rolling pack purchase every month and gain bonuses every 3 months. I've been using it with no problems for years. Everything else seems fine, I just can't send this SMS text. I've never had a problem with replying to the hospital's texts before. It tries to send and then fails saying it can't send the message.

Hi there @LJHay
Thanks for coming to the community.
Is the text message from the hospital showing a short code number?
Can you text BALANCE to 150 and let me know the full reply?
Thanks 🙂
Leanne.

I just get a little clock show under the text whilst it's trying to send and then shows a notification message saying:
Can't send a message.
1 message to *** has not been sent
( I left out the hospital name from that and put in the stars instead for privacy )
Under the text I'm trying to send it shows in red writing : Not sent, check options.
The options are resend, or delete.
Resend just repeats the same process.
I've tried deleting and trying again, it just does the same
I have to reply YES and a 4 digit code to confirm attendance of a hospital appointment. I've done this many times in the last couple of years to this hospital but it just won't send it this time.
When I sent BALANCE to 150 as you requested, this is the reply:
Your current balance as of today 19:09 is £6.45. You have 650 minutes, unlimited texts and 11.1GB remaining until 09/01/2025 for your £10 Talk Pack. Your remaining data includes of rolled over data. Your last top up was £10.00 on 20/12/2022 at 01:34. For more info on your packs, add-ons or free boosts, go to the EE app or ee.co.uk
----
As I said, I've been on this pack for years, so have gained many boosts to up the basic package limits on talk time and data.
Thanks
Lisa
Hang on, I just noticed that says last top up was 20/12/2022! That's not correct, my last direct debit for £10 was on Tuesday and I had the confirmation texts of payment and package received from EE

Thanks very much @LJHay
I wanted to check if you had credit as some short codes can charge to send a reply text.
As you have credit on the account and can send texts to all other numbers, I would suggest getting in touch with our mobile guides on 150. They can get everything checked at our end for you 🙂
Let me know how you get on.
Leanne.
