Calls to Australian number barred

I have recently changed to EE when I arrived in the UK. I have a monthly direct debit set up for my sim only plan. I have tried to ring family in Australia from the UK but keeps saying this number is barred. I have been in store and they put me through to assistance and I was told there was a premium bar on my account. They told me they had removed it and I should now be able to make a call to Australia. I tried today but it is still saying the number is barred. Help please.

Hi @CameronHanrahan

Welcome to the community.

Has 24 hours passed since your request this bar removed?

Hi Katie. Yes it has been 24 hours. I have restarted my phone 4 times.

I would not recommend calling Australia via the regular phone network - it'll cost a lot, IF you/they have an iPhone, use Facetime Audio (this will use data)

International calls won't be included in your plan

EE offer this: Cheap International Calls | International Calls from the UK | EE

Which is not really good value when free alternatives exist, like Whatsapp or Skype/Viber, etc

I mean £13 a month! surely it doesn't cost EE that much
