I spoke to a member of the ee customer service team about using my phone on Maldives. I was offered £15 so I could use my plan while away. I've arrived and been charged £7. Plus. Why is my plan not active? If I'd known that I would have purchased a local sim but now I'm on the island. Please help I need to keep in contact with my son in the UK.

@S4mv4ss4ll0 : As it is not in EU, you cannot use your usual UK allowances there but will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/maldives. If what you were offered was the £15 pm Roam Abroad Pass it isn't valid there, but you are still paying for it.
As you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c.
Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.
